• Is it possible to restore 3-Strip engineered wood flooring?

  Three strip oak floorings usually come with 3 mm top layers and unless it has been sanded before it should be possible to restore. Once the existing sealant is completely removed through the sanding process, is perfectly fine to change the sealant from lacquer oil.

  Before you make the final decision on the most appropriate type of sealant for your engineered wood flooring restoration, bear in mind that oiled floors require more frequent maintenance and re-oiling to ensure long lasting protection.

• Can I stain my wooden stairs?

  It is perfectly fine to do staining on any solid wood areas, including wooden stairs. For our wooden stairs staining and stairs restoration projects, we use Morrells stains, which come in various shades and colours, which we apply on the sanded surface. This is then followed by the application of multiple layers of hard-wearing water-based wood floor varnish.

• Can an engineered wood flooring with underfloor heating be restored?

  Hi Tom,

  Yes, any engineered wood flooring can be sanded with or without underfloor heating, as long as the thickness of the top layer of the product is at least 3 mm.

  Engineered flooring products are manufcatured in thickness of 14-15 mm, 18 mm and 20 mm. Each time the floor is sanded, a small portion of the top layer is removed, so if the top layer becomes too thin, further sanding could compromise the integrity of the floor and potentially expose the underlying material. If you can check the thickness of your plank, you will also know how many times the floors can be sanded.

• Is the floor restoration process noisy?

They are often easier to repair in specific areas, as individual scratches or worn spots can be spot-repaired without needing to re-sand the entire floor. • How long does it take before the floors can be used again after the sanding service?

  During the restoration service, the floors can handle light traffic without disrupting the process.

  During the sealing process, the floors can be walked on between coats. After the final coat is applied, lacquered floors can accommodate foot traffic in 2 hours, while hardwax-oil floors require 5-10 hours. Drying times can vary depending on air humidity and the season.
