Natural Oiled Finish
Oil-based finishes seal timber by soaking into the wooden surface and therefore tend to provide a more natural feel and look of the timber. Quite often wooden floors are sealed with oil after going through a "brushing" process, which embosses the texture of the wooden surface. Wooden floors with such a finish are referred to as "Brushed & Oiled".
This type of finish is less durable compared to the lacquer, but allows re-coating of your wooden floors. This can have some benefits in terms of maintenance, as re-coating can delay the complete floor renovation service, which uses the process of sanding and reduces the wearable thickness of the wooden floors.
The oil-based finish, however, is slow-drying (4-10 hours per coat) and it may be challenging in terms of planning and furniture, to apply a new top coat in a busy household. In fact, due to this inconvenience, many households tend to delay re-coating of oiled floors and end up renovating their floors too early.
Floor Laying Service
The Evolve Engineered Oak Flooring, Natural, Distressed & Oiled, 220x4x15 mm comes in a tongue-and-groove plank. All planks with 20 mm, 18 mm thickness provide excellent solidness and flooring stability even if laid as suspended floors onto batten or timber joists. They can be secret-nailed, glued-down or floated (with underlay) and usually available with an extended life span guarantee. Glue-down installation is highly recommended for subfloors with underfloor heating system.
Same type of installation approach applies for some 14 mm T&G planks, although they remain more suitable for floors with good level throughout.

Deliveries
Most of our flooring product are usually available within 2 to 5 days, subject to current stock levels and offered FREE of charge, when delivered at the time or close to the booking date of our flooring services.
Delivery of flooring inside property to residential blocks or where access to the dwelling or work space is limited, will usually have "Heavy Goods" surcharge. Copy of our full Deliveries Terms is available here.
Any unopened flooring packs, in original condition can be returned within 14 days of delivery with 25% restocking charge. Cost of delivery back to base is paid by the customer.
