Before the works...
In this Islington property we installed approx. 30 sqm of solid oak parquet flooring in herrginbone pattern. During our obligation-free survey, we did detailed inspection of the floors and discussed with the client all possible choices, followed by comprehensive quote with our floor installation prices for parquet flooring.
Our client decided to go for floor fitting with installation of 30 sqm oak parquet flooring with solid oak scotia beading around perimeter.
How we carried out the floor fitting works...
One of the challenges we experienced during the floor works was to complete the floor works in stages, due to bulky pieces of furniture, which could not be moved out.
Parquet flooring laying requires many years of experience, skills and the right carpentry equipment. Depending on the overall condition of the subfloor, our initial assessment identifies if sepcific subfloor preparation will be required.
During this flooring project we fitted 30 sqm of oak parquet flooring, specifically - Timbercraft Oak Parquet Flooring, Rustic, Unfinished with glue-down installation in herringbone pattern (wall-to-wall), over plied timber subfloor.
In this project we also fitted parquet flooring (matching plank) throughout 2 steps - step, nosing & riser. Our stairs installation service is inclusive of supplying matching the floor stair nosing (tongue-and-groove or click). For real wood products we also colour match the nosing (when necessary) to match the appearance of the planks.
When laying new floors an expansion gap of approx. 10 mm is left on the perimeter. This gap is either covered by new skirting boards, or in case the old ones remain - scotia or quadrant beading will be installed around the perimeter.
In this project the client decided to go with solid oak scotia beading around the perimeter.
As per our initial assessment, the subfloor was prepared with 12 mm GP plywood before the floor fitting works.
Due to the change of level, after the new flooring was installed - our experienced, local Islington floor fitters made sure all affected doors & door frames are trimmed to height and adjusted to new flooring.
As part of the works, this new unfinished flooring went through paquet floor sanding, gap filling & sealing with Bona Mega lacquer to deliver a smooth finish in matt sheen.
Overall, this floor laying project was completed as originally planned by our local to Islington floor fitters and the new floors met the expectations and the satisfaction of its owners.
