Is it possible to sand engineered wood flooring?

Engineered wood floors can be sanded and the restoration process is done in the same way as hardwood or parquet floor sanding, allowing you to remove deeper dents and scratches and to renew the floor’s appearance.
However, sanding engineered wood flooring should always be approached with extra care, because it is only the top layer of solid wood that is sandable, rather than the whole plank. Therefore, before you do any works on engineered floors, you need to make sure that the top layer is at least 3 mm thick to avoid any unrepeatable damages. You can do this by checking the thickness at door bars or around radiator pipes.
We strongly advise hiring a professional floor sanding company for your engineered floor restoration rather than trying to do it yourself because if you do not have the required skills and knowledge, you can easily cause damage and may end up having to replace the floors all together.
Can I stain my wooden stairs?

It is perfectly fine to do staining on any solid wood areas, including wooden stairs. For our wooden stairs staining and stairs restoration projects, we use Morrells stains, which come in various shades and colours, which we apply on the sanded surface. This is then followed by the application of multiple layers of hard-wearing water-based wood floor varnish.

During the restoration service, the floors can handle light traffic without disrupting the process.
During the sealing process, the floors can be walked on between coats. After the final coat is applied, lacquered floors can accommodate foot traffic in 2 hours, while hardwax-oil floors require 5-10 hours. Drying times can vary depending on air humidity and the season.

How often should I have my parquet floors restored?

Can you oil a wooden floor without sanding?

Yes, it is possible to re-oil a wooden floor without full sanding if the existing oil finish is still largely intact and the wood itself is not deeply scratched, stained, or damaged. It involves thoroughly cleaning the floor with a specialised wood floor cleaner, and then applying a fresh, thin coat of oil. This method rejuvenates the existing finish, restores its lustre, and replenishes the oil within the wood, extending its life without the need for abrasive sanding.
