  Sanding stairs and banisters is not an easy task and it requires high level skills and craftmanship. Most of the work involved is done manually and therefore it is very time consuming. So, restoration (floor sanding & refinishing) will not be an option in this case.

• Is it possible to sand engineered wood flooring?

  Engineered wood floors can be sanded and the restoration process is done in the same way as hardwood or parquet floor sanding, allowing you to remove deeper dents and scratches and to renew the floor’s appearance.

  However, sanding engineered wood flooring should always be approached with extra care, because it is only the top layer of solid wood that is sandable, rather than the whole plank. Therefore, before you do any works on engineered floors, you need to make sure that the top layer is at least 3 mm thick to avoid any unrepeatable damages. You can do this by checking the thickness at door bars or around radiator pipes.

• How many coats of lacquer are included in your service?

  For domestic floor sanding services, we apply 1 coat of primer followed by 2 coats of lacquer. You can choose from the available sheen options, which are extra-matt, matt, satin, and gloss.

  For floor sanding in public spaces (offices, schools, church halls), we use 1 coat of primer and 3 coats of high quality commercial-grade lacquer. Sheen options available are extra-matt, matt, and satin.

  Extra coats are available upon request, but we do not recommend more than 5 coats, including primer.

• How long does it take for lacquered floors to dry?

  Lacquered (or varnished) floors generally dry quicker to the touch than oiled floors.
